How to
Choose a Christening Outfit
We have
written this guide to provide you with enough
information to choose the best christening outfit to
ensure that the special day is perfect.
A
christening outfit represents a keepsake signifying an
important occasion for your child. You will need
to find that christening outfit that perfectly suits
you, your baby, your situation and that also fits your
budget.
Please
consider the following points to help you along your way
to finding that special christening outfit:
Traditional
or Modern
The style of an outfit is
a very important choice. Sometimes it is simply down to
a matter of taste. Traditionally, a baby girl will wear
a
long gown
with a bonnet, a baby boy a satin or cotton
romper
christening outfit. For something a little more modern,
a baby girl will look the picture in a
short dress
with either none or short sleeves and for a baby boy,
perhaps a little 4
piece suit,
which is becoming more increasingly popular by the day.
Colour
Traditionally, white is the most popular choice for
a christening gown as this symbolizes purity and
youth, but that does not mean you are restricted to
this one colour. Ivory is becoming a popular colour
for christening gowns and suits and for an even more
modern approach to colours, pinks and blues are
being used for this special day.
Size
/ Fit
Your baby needs to be as comfortable as possible if
you are to keep their christening outfit on them for
the remainder of the day. You need to make sure that
your baby has enough room to move around in without
any restriction, so we always recommend you check
all measurements in descriptions and sizing guide.
Accessories
There are so many accessories to choose to add that
finishing touch to your baby's christening outfit.
The main rule is if the gown / suit is fancy, go for
plain accessories and if the gown / suit is plain,
go for fancy accessories - this is a matter of
preference though. The minimum accessories you will
need for a christening is:
shoes,
socks / tights,
bonnet
and a
bib
to protect the gown. You may also need a cardigan /
shawl for a winter christening due to the weather.
We believe
that every baby is special and we have something
special for every baby to complete their christening
outfit. |
